ugh... plaintive letter to return to the KH

got a letter today from a really nice guy who was in the bs group that met in my home for 10+ yrs.... privy to some of the huge issues my family has faced.... smart enough guy, ubm, at least one grown kid in and married into a huge 2nd/3rd generation family, grandkids yada yada...... he saw, but did not speak to me, at the school performance i alluded to in another post........ http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/156961/1.ashx......... as far as i know we never even made eye contact..... it was a crowded event in an elementary school but i saw him as he and his wife arrived late and scurried for seating.

at any rate.... this is part of a letter that came in the mail today ..... i cannot believe the spin that the r&f are fed and seem to swallow down without the fava beans and nice chianti ( i do not mean to berate his heartfelt and genuinely offered plea.... i just cannot stomach the blind allegiance to the b0rg) .

i have talked to a few of the friends about what can be done to encourage you and your family and decided to simply put a few thoughts in a letter.

Dear ????:

Thank you so much for your kind words. I have always had the greatest respect for you, and your act of kindness only confirms my respect was not misplaced. However, you are very mistaken. No brother at any time has ever called upon me in three years, so I am unsure as to where you have obtained this misinformation. But, please do not fret; I AM THRIVING! Never in my life have I been more close to Jehovah than now. While I am greatly disappointed in the true spritual condition of the congregation, I am not bitter; in fact, I have simply moved on, and I rarely think of them just as they, clearly, rarely think of me.

One important gift I now possess is the ability to serve Jehovah without being overly concerned about Armageddon. I am dedicated to serving him the rest of my life. He knows who I am, and I have no need to bank "extra-credit points" by serving him more aggressively because of some perceived nearness of the end, as if He is so ingnorant he couldn't see through such a charade.

In addition, I certainly agree with the sentiment in Psalms 34:18. He certainly has saved me, and for that I am very thankful.

I'm glad to hear that you are doing well, and I wish you all the best.

If he can get healthy and stay healthy, he still has a career ahead of him. Hopefully, he has learned the valuable lesson of fighting on to gain a few extra yards after tackle attempts. As for last few years, he has carried neither the team, nor the football, to any great extent.

Good! He had way too many injuries. Besides that, whenever he is carrying the ball and anyone even TOUCHES him, he falls down. Last season showed him to be VERY, VERY replaceable.

Then perhaps you should start acting like someone who is "proud and honoured to be a Jehovah's Witness." You aren't supposed to be visiting "apostate" website. After 48 years as a faithful JW, I am content to simply leave; I feel no need to vist pro-JW discussion boards to dissuade them from their beliefs. Why are you unable to obey the faithful and discreet slave and refrain from visiting and posting on this website?

If your so happy with the new understanding "scholar," shouldn't you be out in service or engaging in other approriate theocratic activities? Why instead are you arrogantly refusing to follow the admonition of those whom you term celebrated Biblical scholars NOT to visit apostate website?

A quality typical of apostates is 'gulliibility' and when someone writes a piece against WT doctrine even if it is dressed up as scholarship then it is instantly accepted by all without a moment of criticism.

It sounds like you are describing the Watchtower study today...gulliibility [sic]...written doctrinal pieces dressed up as scholarship...INSTANTLY ACCEPTED BY ALL WITHOUT A MOMENT OF CRITICISM...

How the Society Portrays Cultural Diversity

what's wrong with this picture?.

the watch tower society claims that its members are united spiritually despite ethnic and cultural diversity; they speak a "pure language.

" an anglo-american religion, whose mother tongue is english, jehovah's witnesses see paradise - in saturated color - as though already "present.

I love the geography of every picture they show of paradise.

A beautiful field, with a huge pond behind it, and then big, snow covered mountains in the back ground.

Where in the world does that exist? And why in the hell are there tigers / lions there??

In the Pacific Northwest...minus the tigers and lions of course. The artist that consistenly paints variations of that same picture is from the PNW. On the twenty or so days each year it looks like that, locals refer to it as "the mountain is out." Most of the time, the mountain is behind cloud cover.

3 a.m. - my wife is in tears! What do I do?

well my situation has developed a bit, any advice appreciated.. their has been a gradual building up of pressure ever since i stood down as an elder about 6 months ago.. i have been telling my wife about my doubts but have continued to attend "some" meetings.. as time has progressed i have become more open with my criticism of the org.. i mentioned the un scandal, molestation trials, false prophecy ect etc.. interestingly she does not deny these facts and yet still wants to continue as a jw.. i told her that god is not happy with people knowingly being part of a false prophet (deut 18 - etc) - starting to lay the groundwork for my exit.. she appreciates the difficult situation doubters are in - they cannot openly express their feelings for fear of jcs.. anyway, a few weeks ago we moved house which meant changing congregation.. but i felt it would be best if i did not attend meetings " at all" at the new cong so my fade could be easier.. but i could not have predicted my wifes response - when i told her it was an explosion of emotion, i mean real heartbreaker stuff.. she seems depressed at the prospect, perhaps the reality is finally hitting home.. last night, about 3a.m.

i noticed that she was not in bed.

i went downstairs and she was sobbing away to herself.. "i can't go to that hall myself!

How to make sure the butterfly cannot fly When the butterfly is ready, it starts to break through the cocoon. First a hole appears. Then the butterfly struggles to come out through the hole. This can take a few hours.

If you try to "help" the butterfly by cutting the cocoon, the butterfly will come out easily but it will never fly. Your "help" has destroyed the butterfly.

The butterfly can fly because it has to struggle to come out. The pushing forces lots of enzymes from the body to the wing tips. This strengthens the muscles, and reduces the body weight. In this way, the butterfly will be able to fly the moment it comes out of the cocoon. Otherwise it will simply fall to the ground, crawl around with a swollen body and shrunken wings, and soon die.

If the butterfly is not left to struggle to come out of the cocoon, it will never fly.We can learn an important lesson from the butterfly.

If we do not have struggles and challenges in our work, we will never grow strong and capable. If life has no difficulties, we will become weak and helpless.
